Sales of smartphones running on Microsoft's Windows Phone OS overtook Apple in the final quarter of last year in Brazil.
According to a Microsoft blog post, citing an IDC survey, Windows Phone OS has seen an entire year of sequential sales growth and is now the second largest OS by market share.
It is however, still a very distant second, with a rampant Android OS dominating the market. It is the significance of overtaking Apple that they naturally highlighted.
In fact, according to the IDC in Q4 2013 Windows Phone outsold iOS in 10 countries in total, although that is down on previous quarters thanks to the traditional late summer surge in new iPhone sales.
