Ericsson and PTT vendor Kodiak Networks are now offering their cloud based products in Europe following a launch last year in the USA.
Ericsson said that because this is a cloud service, operators will always be able to offer their customers the latest version of the PTT service - without the need for network infrastructure modifications. Ericsson hosts the technology platform provided by Kodiak Networks in Ericsson's European data center and operates it via the Global Service Center in Romania.
Luigi Migliaccio, Global Head of IT Managed Services at Ericsson, says: "This service has proved popular with operators and their customers in the US, and we are sure it will enjoy the same success in Europe. It's the only carrier-grade PTT service that supports 4G networks, such a wide range of handsets and even PCs - all while offering great voice quality."
The latest version of the PTT service offers features such as voice and signaling encryption, real-time presence, talker priority, a web-based Corporate Administration Tool (CAT), integrated Dispatch console and the ability to augment or replace Private Mobile Radio (PMR).
