Published on: 9th Feb 2014
Nepal Telecom is to start charging for access to its Wi Fi network from next month following several months of free access as it tested the network.
The service is available in 21 locations in Kathmandu Valley, and relies on a WiMAX network for the backhaul link. The company plans to expand the network to 30 locations within the valley shortly, and thereafter to around 80 locations nationwide.
At the moment, the service is free, but a charge of Rs10 per month will apply from next month.
The service offers download speeds of up to 512kbps.
