Google Rumoured to Be Working on 8-Inch Tablet

There are further suggestions adding to the existing rumours that Google is developing an 8 inch sized tablet for launch within the next few months.

Citing its usual supply chain sources, Taiwan's DigiTimes said that the so-far unconfirmed supplier is working on the 8-inch model, with initial shipments of two million units to be expected.

Google previously worked with Asustek for its 7-inch tablets, and while not confirmed, it is generally expected that they will retain the contract for the larger model.

Sales of the 7-inch tablet have however been somewhat disappointing, mainly due to intense price competition from lower cost vendors and the move to a larger screen size is seen as ensuring that Google can continue to offer a moderately premium rate product without entering into a price war with low-cost OEMs.

The new tablet is expected to go on sale in April.
