Google Ordered to Move its Mysterious Barge
Published on: 4th Feb 2014
Google has been ordered to move the huge mysterious barge it has moored off San Francisco Bay because it has the wrong paperwork.
While the purpose of the large construction remains a mystery, it is not immune to city bureaucracy.
The San Francisco Bay Conservation and Development Commission said that the documentation was not correct, and said that Google would have to move the barge to another nearby location, where construction can continue.
Quite what is the purpose of the barge is still a closely kept secret within Google, which has a second similar sized vessel off the coast of Portland, Maine.
All that Google has said, after finally being forced into admitting that it owned the barges was that they're "exploring using the barge as an interactive space where people can learn about new technology."
However, if it is just a marketing suite, then it has been noted that it is taking a remarkably long time to build. Most exhibition firms could have erected something similar in a few weeks at most.
