Gmail App for Android Gets an Update

Google has updated the Gmail app for Android smartphones so that it automatically loads images in emails without the user having to click a button to enable them.
The change was originally deployed on the website version of Gmail, and the company said at the time that it would expand it to the mobile version shortly afterwards.
Loading images is also a boost to email marketers who can track if a message was opened, even if a link wasn't clicked on. However, the way Google has implemented it means that email senders only know if an email was opened, but no longer can they tell how often it was opened.
A minor issue, but one that did alarm marketing companies for a while.
An update for the Apple version of the Gmail app is expected shortly.
