Syniverse to Deliver Mobile Messaging for WeChat's Global User Base

Syniverse today announced a new multi year agreement with Chinese OTT messaging app, Tencent to authenticate global end users of Tencent's WeChat app via Syniverse's Enterprise Messaging Service.
WeChat has more than 100 million registered users outside of China.
When an end user registers with the WeChat app over his or her mobile phone, Syniverse's platform will deliver a one-time verification code via SMS.
"WeChat users hold the security of their private information and their convenience in the highest regard, and Syniverse's solution ensures both by providing a channel to safely and quickly verify identity during the registration process," said Morten Brøgger, Chief Sales Officer, Syniverse.
The agreement with Tencent comes on the heels of a recent announcement of another (unnamed) platform using Syniverse's Enterprise Messaging Service to authenticate its subscribers.
"Our platforms are designed to be extremely flexible to meet the needs of any business for messaging reach to the world's mobile consumers," Brøgger said. "From one-time password authentication to travel alerts to bank notifications and more, the potential use cases are virtually limitless."
