Swiss mobile app developer Bitspin has been bought by Google and announced that the paid for version of its mobile popular app is to be released as a free version.
The company develops multiple services, but is best known for an alarm clock app for Android devices that has proven to be very popular for its functionality and aesthetic design.
The free version was funded by mobile advertising, and they offered a paid for version minus the adverts -- but that version is now available for free as well.
The only downside is that the app requires Android 4.x or above, so it is not compatible with older devices.
Bitspin said in a short statement that it will continue to develop new products, which marks the acquisition as a slightly unusual one in recent years where the trend has been to acquire the staff then ditch the company and its products.
