Alicia Keys to Step Down As BlackBerry Creative Director
Published on: 3rd Jan 2014
Celebrity musician Alicia Keys is to end her creative partnership with BlackBerry a year after she took up the role of its global creative director.
The singer/songwriter was hired last year just as the company launched its BlackBerry 10 based smartphones, but will end her contract at the end of this month.
"We have enjoyed the opportunity to work with such an incredibly talented and passionate individual," the company said in an emailed statement without elaborating on the decision to end the partnership.
During her year with the company, Ms Keys worked with the firm to reach out to musicians and also worked on the company's technology scholarship programme for women.
She however sparked a moment of controversy when she was noted to be carrying on using an Apple iPhone while working for BlackBerry.
