Edotco Bangladesh is reportedly buying the passive network infrastructure owned by Robi Axatia for US$145 million.
However, it is predominantly a transfer of assets between companies as both Edotco and Robi are owned by Malaysia based Axiata Group.
Edotco will also spend around US$50 million over the next year upgrading the network and will then lease out capacity on the towers to other mobile networks.
Although details are scarce, Robi says on its website that it owns 6,000 towers. How many, or if all, were transferred to the Edotco was not clarified.
