The Belarus government has cut the price it is seeking for its 51% stake in the local mobile network MTS Belarus.
The government had been seeking offers in excess of USD1 billion, but after years of failure to sell the stake, it has lowered the price. Slightly.
However, at USD863 million, it is still likely to be higher than bidders would be willing to pay.
The state property committee will accept offers until the 6th February. MTS, which owns the remaining 49% stake has not commented on whether it would bid in the offer. It has previously suggested that it would sell its stake if the owner of the stake ended up being a rival company.
