Azerbaijan's mobile networks will be required to offer Mobile Number Portability from next January the ICT Minister Ali Abbasov has confirmed.
The networks have been preparing for the launch, and just needed the final confirmation of when it will go live.
"Mobile operators have announced their readiness to deploy the service," the Minister said. "I believe the use of this service will strengthen competition in the market," he added at a press conference.
He warned the mobile networks that they will be fined if they don't switch on MNP as planned, following reports that Azercell might have to delay its launch due to unspecified issued with third-party suppliers.
