Malaysia's telecoms regulator the MCMC has pushed back the date for an auction of 700Mhz spectrum until 2018.
The regulator's Chairman Datuk Mohamed Sharil Tarmizi said the 700MHz spectrum or frequency was now used by broadcasting services, and would need to be released by them before it can be reused for mobile services.
The also needs to be regional coordination to avoid interference with other countries he warned.
Plans to auction off the radio spectrum have been talked about since at least late 2010 though, and auctions had been expected to take place in 2011.
