Huawei Wins Isle of Man LTE Rollout Contract

Isle of Man based telco, Manx Telecom says that it has awarded a contract to Huawei to deploy a LTE network. Huawei will also update Manx Telecom's existing 2G & 3G networks.

Huawei will deliver and integrate LTE base stations into Manx Telecom's existing mobile network utilising its SingleRAN LTE solution.

The specifics of the contract were not outlined, but Mike Dee, Manx Telecom CEO noted that the firm would be spending £10 million over the next three years on its LTE network.

Manx Telecom's 4G network will be deployed in the 800 and 1800MHz frequency ranges. The network will be launched in the first half of 2014 and tariff plans, as well as further details on coverage, will be announced in the New Year.
