Cyprus Cancels 2.6Ghz Spectrum Auction

Published on:

Note -- this news article is more than a year old.

The Cypriot government has cancelled its planned auction of 2.6Ghz spectrum following two previous extensions to the deadline.

The Ministry of Communications and Works (MCW) said that it was canceling the auction as no bidders had applied for it.

The deadline for bidders had been extended twice already, and that would seem to have been insufficient to encourage any companies to participate in the auction.

An unrelated auction for lower bands and the release of a third mobile operator license is still due to be carried out.
