Bulgaria's Max Telecom says that it has carried out the first mobile data transfers over its LTE network ahead of a commercial launch.
Max Telecom is working with Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN) to deploy its network.
"As in all telecom networks, making the first connection is a major milestone. Our aim is to be the first operator in Bulgaria to offer 4G LTE services. We are on track to meet our goal of offering services by the end of this year" - said Peter Covell, CEO of Max Telecom.
In the very beginning its 4G LTE network will cover 6 key cities in Bulgaria - Sofia, Ruse, Pleven, Sliven, Stara Zagora, and Bansko.
Max Telecom has recently changed ownership and under the leadership of CEO Peter Covell, the company is executing a new strategy - to roll out Bulgaria's first nationwide 4G LTE network in the 1800MHz bands. In June 2013, NSN was awarded the contract after a competitive bidding process.
