NSN Wins Network Upgrade Contracts in Ukraine and Turkmenistan

Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN) says that it has won network upgrade contracts from MTS in Ukraine and Turkmenistan. MTS is also deploying additional 3G base stations in Turkmenistan.
NSN said that it will provide the core network elements, radio access and services for these upgrades.
Under the contract, the core network elements deployed include NSN's Mobile Softswitching (MSS) systems and Multimedia Gateway (MGW) to handle MTS voice and multimedia services. The NetAct network management system will be upgraded to monitor, manage and optimize the complete network.
NSN will also deliver its Single RAN (radio access network) platform to modernize a large part of the existing sites. Additionally, the company will deliver its Multicontroller Platform for the 3G Radio Network Controller (RNC), 2G Base Station Controller (BSC) and related 2G Transcoder (TC).
Financial and timeline details of the contract were not disclosed.
