New CDMA 1X Repeaters Launched
Repeater Technologies has introduced the RepeaterCell RC 19 family of repeaters for CDMA2000 1X data transmission, base station replacement and initial deployment applications.
The RC 19 family consists of five 1900MHz band repeaters. The line ranges from the RC 19-1x10, a single carrier unit with 10 watts of power output, to the RC 19-2x15, featuring an industry-leading 15 watts of power output per carrier and two CDMA carriers in one cabinet -- matching the power of a typical CDMA base station.
The new RC 19 family of repeaters can also be used for base station replacement. "Many operators are finding that a significant number of base stations presently deployed are carrying little traffic," said Joel Spina, vice president, marketing and business development, for Repeater Technologies, adding "At the same time, operators are finding that they need to beef up other geographic areas where capacity requirements are increasing. The RC 19 family, used within our Repeater OptiNet network solution, provides an economical solution by allowing operators to replace these under-utilized base stations with repeaters, and move the base stations to high traffic sites."
Repeater notes that by designing repeaters into the initial network implementation -- in combination with base stations -- operators can optimize the cost-benefit of their deployment. This solution, known as Repeater ValueNet, can lead to base station counts that drop by half for suburban and by two-thirds for rural coverage as compared with a traditional all-base station deployment."
