PocketPC Gets WAP2.0 Browser

Jataayu Software has released its WAP 2.0 compliant jBrowser (Ver 3.0), for PocketPC devices. The software contains executables of WAP 2.0 compatible browser for ARM and SH3 processor based PocketPC devices. Jataayu achieved the distinction of being the first company in the world to have WAP 2.0 based gateway and browsers in October 2001.

"WAP 2.0 is a significant improvement over its predecessor WAP 1.2, and is expected to firmly establish the mobile Internet industry created by the WAP 1.x specification. Jataayu, as one of the early adopters of WAP2, now leads the way by providing the browser needed by the wireless developer community on popular PocketPC devices, to start delivering innovative applications and services based on WAP2." says Mr. Mahesh Jain, CEO of Jataayu Software.

Dr. Gopalakrishna, Director & Advisor, said that the launch of the Jataayu WAP2.0 browsers will let developers deploy their WAP2.0 application on popular PDAs, without having to wait for WAP 2 phone devices.

An evaluation copy of the beta version software is available at www.jataayusoft.com for download for a limited period of time. Vodafone said late last year that it would ship Jataayu's WAP browser with its PocketPC's."
