Two Czech Republic based mobile networks, Vodafone and Telefonica are reported to be close to a deal to share their network infrastructures.

Citing a report by the local newspaper Mlada Fronta Dnes, the Reuters news agency said that the deal would save Telefonica around USD200 million over a 15-year period.

Vodafone would also make a payment of CR40 million to Telefonica under the terms of the agreement, according to documents seen by the newspaper.

Telefonica has an existing network sharing agreement with T-Mobile in the country. That 6-year contract was signed in Feb 2011 and covers just 1,000 base stations for their 3G networks in rural areas.

The agreement with Vodafone is said to be significantly larger.
