Vodafone Secured LTE Spectrum in Fiji

Fiji's government has started its 4G spectrum auction, and Vodafone has already bid for the maximum number of slots that it is entitled to take.

Three registered parties -- Telecom Fiji, Vodafone and Digicel are taking part in the auction which started today and will carry on until the blocks are sold, or the end of this week, which ever is sooner.

Vodafone bid for 6 blocks of 5Mhz spectrum, paying FJD144,000 (US$76,134) per block -- a total of US$456,804 for its LTE license.

The other two operators, Telecom and Digicel are still participating the auction for the remaining blocks of spectrum.

At the time of writing, Digicel has bid for three frequencies - spending $420,500 for two and paying $420,300 for the third. Telecom has bid for three frequencies, paying $504,700 for each of them.
