GSM License Granted in Afghanistan
The Interim Government of Afghanistan has granted a GSM licence to Ariana Telecom of Kabul for the installation of GSM network in Afghanistan. Ariana are currently in negotiations with international operators regarding joint ventures and will announce a construction schedule in the coming weeks.
We have no further details yet - but will been you advised. Ericsson currently has an emergency system in Kabul for use by the Interim Government and international agencies. We also read reports the existing small GSM network covering Kabul and Kandahar was being rebuilt but have not been able to confirm this yet.
