The UK phone retailer Carphone Warehouse is selling its flagship retail store on London's Oxford Street once said to be the largest phone shop in Europe.

The company has sold the remaining 3 years on the lease to a Dutch clothing retailer for a reported £2.5 million, and is seeking an alternative plot on the lucrative shopping street in the centre of the Capital city.

Carphone Warehouse has occupied the prime retail location, close to several major department stores since 2002.

The price being paid by the clothing chain to take over the store is a significant premium on other recent deals. It was noted by the Daily Telegraph that the £2.5 million price is comparable to that offered recently for a store further down the street which was more than ten times the size.
