The Honduran government has approved a law that will require the mobile networks to support Mobile Number Portability (MNP) requests from the end of this September.
There are three mobile networks in the country: Tigo, Claro and Hondutel.
According to a report in El Heraldo, porting requests will have to be carried out within 24 hours from the customer request.
The head of the regulator, Conatel, Ricardo Cardona, confirmed that the change from one operator to another will be free of charge.
A contract for a MNP clearing house is still to be awarded.
