Cyprus to Offer a Third Mobile Operator License

The Republic of Cyprus (Southern Cyprus) has announced a tender for the country's third mobile network operator license. A reserve price of EUR12.3 million has been set for the license.

The tender, will offer 2x10Mhz of 900Mhz spectrum, 2x24.8Mhz of 1800Mhz and 2x15Mhz of 2.1Ghz spectrum.

The terms of the license also allow the new entrant to secure a national roaming agreement with one of the two incumbent operators, CYTA while its own network is being deployed. The new entrant will however be required to reach at least 65% coverage within five years.

The license will be valid for a period of 15 years, and subject to negotiated renewal thereafter.

Tenders have to be submitted by the 24th July 2013.
