Vodafone Australia says that it has moved aggressively into its next phase announcing today a significant regional coverage expansion from July, when it will flick the switch on 1,200 new network sites spanning thousands of square kilometres across Australia.
Today's announcement is in addition to the new network infrastructure Vodafone has invested in over the past two years, which has already resulted in more reliable, faster 3G and 3G+ network coverage for its six million customers.
"We have invested heavily in our 3G network over the past two years and our metropolitan network is already 25% bigger than it was in 2011. Our engineers continue to work tirelessly to ensure that the Vodafone 3G network delivers reliable, fast network coverage to our customers whenever they need it." Vodafone's CEO Bill Morrow said.
"I am really pleased to be able to share the news with our customers today that we are tripling our network sites in regional Australia, offering significantly improved coverage right across the country. We are also very much looking forward to the launch of our super-fast 4G network in June."
Vodafone will contact its customers directly in July to detail the areas in which the network coverage will increase.
