Vodafone Uses Logica Gateway to Improve SMS Services

Logica has integrated its Foreign Subscriber Gateway (FSG) into the GSM network of Sweden's Europolitan Vodafone. Network operators can traditionally only offer messaging services to their own customers. Logica's Foreign Subscriber Gateway enables the operator to break down this existing communication barrier, allowing customers of other indigenous networks, as well as incoming roaming subscribers to utilise all the SMS services available from the operator.

This equips Europolitan Vodafone with the ability to increase the average revenue per user (ARPU) and expand its potential revenue generation base both within the country and beyond Sweden's borders. Using Logica's Foreign Subscriber Gateway, Europolitan Vodafone also intend to extend the use of the Foreign Subscriber Gateway to support business-to-business services in the area of telematics."
