Virgin Mobile to Launch Post Paid Service
Virgin Mobile Asia is preparing to launch a post-paid cellular service in Singapore, according to an article in The Straits Times. Virgin Mobile chief executive Ross Cormack said in an interview "We will, over the course of the next months, be introducing all sorts of new functionality, including post-paid functionality,", adding that the service would not come with "the negative features of a contract"
The company acquired has about 20,000 PrePay subscribers since its launch last October - however the Singapore market is dominated by post-paid subscribers with over 75% preferring to sign up to contract agreements.
Virgin Mobile Asia is a 50:50 joint venture with SingTel and runs its service as an MVNO over SingTel's GSM network."
