Comfone to Offer GPRS Roaming Trial Service to Networks
At the 3GSM World Congress 2002 in Cannes a decision was made that GPRS roaming should be pushed forward and connections between all GRXs should be implemented within the next six months in order to provide worldwide coverage to GPRS operators. Comfone says that it fully supports this agreement, and the company has defined a trial phase where customers can try out its service for a limited time period. Via a secure access method over the Internet any operator can be connected to their GRX backbone within 2-3 weeks.
Comfone also sees peering between GRX service providers as a key factor further facilitating worldwide GPRS roaming. As an active member of the GSMA GRX Task Force, Comfone has teamed up with a number of other GRX service providers and is connected to the GRX peering point in Amsterdam (AMS-IX) and has established further peering relations with several GRXs. Comfone's GRX is provided by a partnership between Comfone and Infonet Services Corporation."
