Telef nica's Czech Republic LTE network coverage will be expanded to parts of Prague, the company has announced. The service will launch in the middle of next month in selected areas of the city. Other parts of the city, incl. V clav Havel International Airport, will follow in the summer. The centre of Brno will be covered in October 2013.
"Last year in June we launched LTE on the Czech market in Jesenice, as the first operator. Now we will offer LTE services to all users in the wider centre of Prague," says Petr Matejovský, Telefónica Czech Republic's Marketing Director, Mobile Voice & Data and Fix Services, Consumer Segment.
Customers can try out the LTE technology already now in the O2 Experience Centre in Prague's Obchodní Centrum Chodov shopping mall.
The company is currently refarming its 1800Mhz spectrum for the LTE service after the country delayed the 4G spectrum auction.
Telefonica added that it is also upgrading its 3G network -- specifically upload speeds from devices -- to 14.4Mbps. That upgrade will go nationwide, also from the middle of May.
