1xEV-DO Computer Card Launched

AirPrime has expanded its product line to include a family of CDMA wireless PC cards that will work on both CDMA2000 1X and the 3G compliant expansion, 1xEV-DO. The PC3200 series supports CDMA2000 1X with both forward- and reverse-link data rates of up to 153.6 kbps, while the PC5200 series of PC cards for 1xEV-DO supports maximum data speeds of up to 2.4 Mbps.

The PC3200 and PC5200 series are designed as standard Type II PCMCIA cards and are compatible with Microsoft operating systems. Both PC Card series support global frequency bands at 800 MHz, 1,800 MHz and 1,900 MHz. An innovative antenna design maximizes network coverage, data transfer speed and battery life of the notebook computer.

AirPrime will begin providing the PC3200 and PC5200 series PC cards to customers in early Q2 2002. As AirPrime is an OEM manufacturer, the cards will probably be sold under the cellular networks own brand name."
