China Unicom Targets 50% Increase in 3G Phone Sales

China Unicom is looking to increase sales of 3G smartphones this year by 50% to reach 90 million units, the company confirmed.
The target was announced at the launch of the latest smartphone the company is offering - the Nokia Lumia 520, which it is selling for RMB1,300 (US$206).
The mobile network's 3G network is compatible with HSPA+ services offering theoretical peak rate downloads of 21Mbps. The HSPA+ coverage is available in 330 cities.
''With the fastest 3G network in China, we will expand business and market share through more cooperation with overseas brands, like Nokia,'' said Zhou Youmeng, China Unicom's marketing director.
