USA based Verizon Wireless is no longer expected to be offering HTC's latest flagship smartphone the HTC One and will however continue to promote the older HTC Droid DNA to customers instead.
Although the US network was not named as a carrier when the HTC One was announced, it had been expected that it would offer the handset later.
A couple of messages on HTC's own Twitter account have since cleared up the confusion.
Although one of the messages was later deleted, the message was repeated in a reply to a query from a potential customer.
"The HTC One will not be available on the Verizon network, but have you seen the awesome #DROIDDNA?"
The two phones are superficially similar, although the One comes with a higher performance processor, improved camera, replaceable battery and stereo speakers.
