Ericsson May Consider Indian Job Cuts - Report
Published on:
Ericsson is reportedly mulling job cuts in India as the company faced a one-third decline in local sales last year. As with the other European suppliers, Ericsson has faced increasing competition from Huawei and ZTE.
Company insiders told the Economic Times that while Ericsson continues to dominate the managed services and operations and business support systems (OSS/BSS) markets, it saw much weaker performance in its networks, global services and support-solutions verticals.
Citing industry sources, the newspaper said that Ericsson may review its staffing levels in the global services vertical, which is reckoned to be a people-intensive, low-margins business.
The company currently employs around 14,000 staff in the country.
Ericsson did not comment when asked for a statement.
