Virgin Mobile Lifts Mobile Data Speed Cap - Temporarily

Published on:

Virgin Mobile's UK based MVNO has lifted a contentious mobile data speed cap which was limiting mobile downloads to 2Mbps, but wont rule out reinstating it again in the future.

The company said that it was lifting the cap as a temporary measure as it tries to fix an apparently unrelated problem with mobile data reliability.

The MVNO, which operates over the EE network, but has a lot of its own kit in place as well is struggling to identify the source problems which manifest as connectivity issues and latency issues when they are connected.

In a posting on the customer support forum, the company said that while it can't rule out re-introducing the speed cap, what they can say is that it would be at a much higher speed level.

The company added that however this won't be done for some time as their priority right now is getting to the bottom of the connectivity issues customers are still experiencing.
