Zimbabwean Mobile Network to Open Store in South Africa

Published on:

Zimbabwe's Econet Wireless has opened its first retail store outside the country -- in South Africa -- to serve the growing ex-pat community there.

There are estimated to be around 2 million Zimbabweans living in South Africa and the company aims to promote its "call-home" service that offers discounted calls back to neighbouring Zimbabwe.

The company plans to open its first store in Hillbrow, a densely populated inner-city suburb of Johannesburg.

Econet Wireless is Zimbabwe's largest mobile network, with around 8 million customers.
