New CEO Named for Telecom Argentina

­Telecom Argentina's CEO, Mr. Franco Bertone is to leave the company to take up new roles at its controlling shareholder, Telecom Italia.

He has been CEO of the company since March 2009, and is being replace by fellow Italian, Mr. Stefano De Angelis, who has previous experience in Latin America when he was based at TIM Brasil.

Telecom Argentina is 54.7% owned by Nortel Inversora, which is in turn 78% owned by Sofora Telecomunicaciones, in which Telecom Italia has a 58% stake - giving it control of the company.

The remainder of the company is listed on the local stock market.
