Alcatel-Lucent Wins Iraqi LTE Deployment Contract

Published on:

Alcatel-Lucent says that it has won a contract to deploy a LTE network in Northern Iraq from a local telecoms operator, Regional Telecom.

For the project, Alcatel-Lucent is providing its end-to-end LTE solution, including base stations, IP mobile backhaul for 4G LTE and existing 3G CDMA traffic, Evolved Packet Core (EPC) and elements of its platforms.

No other details about the contract were provided though, nor how the client secured a 4G license in the country.

Regional Telecom appears to be based in Duhok, a largely Kurdish city in the far north of the country.
