Hong Kong Firm Invests in Jolla OS Developer

Hong Kong based China Fortune says that it has bought a 6.25% stake in the Finland based smartphone OS developer, Jolla.

In a complex transaction, the company said that its subsidiary, Express Fortune took out an option to buy shares in the smartphone OS developer at the end of last year.

Last night, it exercised the option to buy just over EUR1 million of new shares in the company, giving it approximately 6.25% of Jolla Oy's enlarged share capital after a series of Jolla's other fund raising activities that are expected to be completed next month.

Jolla is developing the Sailfish OS, which is based on the core distribution of the Mer project, which continues the previous work of the Nokia backed MeeGo project.
