Apple Releases Urgent Software Upgrade to Fix iPhone Battery Problems

Published on:

Following warnings over the weekend to iPhone 4s owners to avoid updating their handset software, Apple has released a new version that should fix the problems.

Apple still hasn't formally commented on the problems, other than to post a short note on its website that it has a security update for the iOS 6.1 software pack that "fixes an issue that could impact cellular performance and reliability for iPhone 4S"

Over the weekend a number of mobile networks warned their customers who are using the Apple iPhone 4S not to upgrade to the latest version of the operating system after widespread reports of problems.

The problems seemed to be manifest in battery life draining for the customers, but also problems with office Exchange email servers being trapped into capacity destroying loops affecting how all users of the service could download their emails.

The problems with the Microsoft Exchange servers has apparently not been fully fixed though - leading to some companies to ban the use of iPhones for company emails.
