Brunei's B-Mobile Seeks Court Approval to Shut-Down Mobile Network

Brunei's TelBru has submitted a petition to the Supreme Court to allow it to close down its mobile network subsidiary, B-Mobile.
The move comes a week after the regulator said that it was launching an investigation into the company which has been suffering a number of serious network outages in recent weeks.
B-Mobile said that it is still trying to identify a persistent network fault that was affecting voice calls and text messages.
"B-Mobile is trying its best to resolve the predicament with our team working tirelessly to find a temporary solution. B-Mobile regrets the connection issues and appreciates our customers' patience and support," the company said.
The regulator said that services have been restored in some areas, but remain unreliable.
However, the decision by the parent company to seek permission to wind-up the company would suggest that the problems are far more serious and that it has decided that it would be better to simply walk away from the mobile network.
The network was set up in September 2005 as the country's first 3G network.
