Orascom Issues Algerian GSM Contract

LCC International has been selected by Orascom Telecom Algeria "OTA", the leading Egyptian mobile phone operator who won Algeria's second GSM license in July 2001, to provide turn-key deployment services for the eastern regions of its network.

The contract value in the current year is in excess of US$6 million and calls for LCC manage all aspects of the wireless network's implementation in the cities of Constantine, Setif and Blida. The turn-key agreement includes professional services such as overall project management, site acquisition, construction management and site construction services, equipment procurement, and materials management.

"Our choice of LCC as the preferred supplier for the deployment of our network is a result of a careful process of evaluation amongst 10 companies initially invited to this tender", commented Lionel Coussi chief executive officer of OTA. "LCC's reputation and the quality work they are doing in the region along with their rich history in wireless and specifically GSM ultimately lead to their selection."
