Israel's Pelephone Restores Service Following Major Network Outage
Published on:
Israel's Pelephone has restored its network services after it suffered a four-hour outage over the weekend affecting its entire customer base.
Customers were unable to make or receive voice calls or text messages for most of Sunday evening. The mobile data network was unaffected though.
"The problem which lasted for about four hours was detected in the control center of the company," Pelephone said, adding that "the investigation into the problem will continue in the coming days and conclusions will be drawn as necessary."
Engineers from manufacturers Ericsson and HP assisted during the outage.
Although the company declined to comment on how many customers were affected, other local media suggests that the majority of its 3 million customers were affected by the outage.
The company is still investigating the cause of the outage, but has already ruled out any sort of cyber-attack.
