UK based landline network operator, BT Openreach says that it proposing a trial of a mobile infill concept that the company has been working on. It has issued an invitation to the mobile industry to participate in a technology proof of concept trial.
The trial will take place at BT's Adastral Park site commencing in February 2013 and will require any participating trialist to provide specific equipment and support. It is not intended that this trial will involve providing live services to any customers.
In order to be selected, a trialist will be required to provide suitable radio equipment and work with Openreach to install and test this as part of the Openreach trial solution.
The company originally announced plans for its infill trials last September, and the intention is to support the roll out of mobile coverage to areas of the UK where coverage is either non-existent or patchy, typically more rural areas.
