Papua New Guinea Orders Bar on Sales of ZTE Mobile Phones
Published on:
Papua New Guinea's telecoms regulator has ordered the suspension of sales of ZTE mobile phones pending completion of its approvals process.
NICTA chief executive officer Charles Punaha notified Telikom PNG to stop sales of the handsets following complaints that the phones were faulty.
The NICTA is requiring the handsets to pass type approvals process before being offered for sale again.
The mobile network has defended the phones saying that they are not faulty, and that the procurement process was transparent.
