Telkomsel Looking to Boost Mobile Data Users to 82s Million by Year-End

Published on:

Indonesia's Telkomsel says that it aims to boost the number of mobile data users by 50% this year in an effort to diversify its revenue streams.

Around 54 million of its 125 million current subscribers have a mobile data tariff, and the company wants to see that rise to over 80 million by the end of this year.

Arief Pradetya, division head of bundling and customization at Telkomsel told The Jakarta Globe that among the efforts to increase data subscriptions is selling SIM cards bundled with smartphones.

The company has just started a promotion along those lines with Nokia for some of its Asha handsets.

"Around 49 percent of Telkomsel's subscribers are Nokia users, that's why we initiated this cooperation," Arief said.
