Mozilla Shows Off First Firefox Based Smartphones

Published on:

Mozilla has announced the first two smartphones that will support its own Firefox OS, although they are aimed at primary developers, not the general public.

The company is not making the phones itself - that has been left to the Spanish company, GeeksPhone in association with Telefonica.

The two handsets are based on a 1Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and support WCDMA and GSM networks. The screen is a 3.5-inch multtouch display and they come with 512MB of RAM and a 4GB ROM.

They also support over the air updates for the operating system software.

Geeksphone used its twitter account to say that pricing and availability of the new handsets will be announced in a few weeks time.

Telefonica has previously said that it will support the Firefox based smartphones later this year.
