Samsung Buys Stake in Mobile Security Software Developer
Published on:
Samsung has bought a small stake in the Canadian mobile security software vendor, Fixmo for an undisclosed amount.
Samsung is making the investment in Fixmo through its investment arm Samsung Ventures in return for a "small" equity stake, Fixmo founder and CEO Rick Segal told Bloomberg News in a phone interview.
The investment shows that "Samsung is getting very serious about taking on RIM in their own backyard, in government and enterprise," Segal said yesterday.
Fixmo has raised US$40 million from investors as it develops mobile software that derives from work it did with the USA's National Security Agency.
