Deutsche Telekom to Cut 1,200 Administrative Jobs in Germany
Published on:
Germany's Deutsche Telekom is to cut around 1,200 administrative jobs, the company has confirmed following earlier media reports.
The business newspaper Handelsblatt had reported earlier in the day that the German telco was planning to axe 1,200 jobs within the framework of a larger restructuring program.
Deutsche Telekom later confirmed the report, which had said that the redundancies would save the company around EUR100 million (US$130 million) per year after redundancy costs are accounted for.
Many of the redundancies are due to overlapping roles following the sharing of roles between the T-Home and T-Mobile back in 2010.
Some of the affected staff may be offered relocations to the company's operative business.
