Russian Railway Sues Apple over Mobile App Trademark Claim

Published on:

The Russian national railway has filed a lawsuit against Apple accusing the company of trademark infringement after it used the railway logo in one of its smartphone apps.

The railway is seeking US$65,000 in damages.

The railway's logo is used as part of a "Railway Tariff" app sold through Apple's online store. The app provides estimates of cargo delivery costs and times across Russia.

Moscow's Court of Arbitration confirmed to RIA that the case had been filed.

Apple recently had to make a payment to the Swiss Railway after it used the railway's famous clock design in its own OS without a license.
